Park Circus






Park Circus, which sits atop Woodlands Hill, beside Kelvingrove Park.

The Park District area is bordered by the City Centre, Kelvingrove, Kelvingrove Park and Woodlands. Park Circus was built between 1855 and 1863. Many of the area's large townhouses that were converted to offices during the latter half of the 20th century are being returned to residential use. It was declared a Conservation Area in 1970.

Port Dundas


 "Dookets" (or "doocots") is a Scottish word for a dovecote (a house for doves/pigeons).

During the 60s and  70s doocots were a familiar sight in working class schemes,usually made from wood and often looking like patchwork quilts with an odd assortment collection of wood.

Glasgow High Court




 Glasgow High Court, a relatively new building which is now the main entrance to the High Court complex  located on Mart Street, just off Saltmarket. It was carefully designed to be of similar height to the old building and was constructed with matching coloured sandstone.

Glasgow Savings Bank

 








The Glasgow Savings Bank at Parkhead Cross was built in 1908 to encourage saving among the working class. The distinctive architecture, designed by John Keppie, includes a tall corner tower with a dome and an ornate entrance featuring the Royal Coat of Arms of Scotland. 

The building was designed by John Keppie in a Baroque style. 

A tall corner tower with intricate carved details.and a domed banking hall to the rear.

Giffnock grey sandstone was used which is distinctive from the typical red ashlar found in the area.
