Govan statues

 The statue at Govan Cross, is by Andrew Brown and shows Mary Barbour leading a rent strike in 1915. The statue also marks International Women's Day.

The Old Govan Church and Stones

The Old Govan has a collection of medieval stones dating from the 9th to the 11th Century. It has a total of 31 monuments and 5 Viking hogback stones. The sarcophagus is probably the highlight of the exhibition.

ST Mungo


 The statue of St. Mungo by sculptor Roddy McDowall is a 2.7-meter (nine-foot) tall Portland stone figure located at the City of Glasgow College's City Campus on Cathedral Street, unveiled in October 2018. Commissioned by the Incorporation of Masons of Glasgow, it depicts the city's patron saint and was carved by McDowall, a former stonemasonry student.

Battle of Langside Monument

 








The Battle of Langside Monument was built in 1887 to commemorate the battle of Langside were Mary Queen of Scott's was defeated by  The Regent Moray.

The monument was the work of Alexander Skirving.

The monument consists of a Corinthian column on a pedestal with carvings of thistles, roses, fleur-de-lis ,eagles and a lion which is perched on top of the Corinthian column.

The monuments is located in the centre of a busy roundabout on Langside Hill in the south side of the city.

The Clyde Clock

The clock was installed in 2000 and is by Glasgow sculptor, George Wylie. The clock is meant to chime at 20.00 each evening. The clock was commissioned by Radio Clyde. 

The sculpure resides outside Buchanan Street bus station. (and is sometimes also referred to as the 'running clock')

Donald Dewar Statue

The statue of Donald Dewar, Scotland's First, First Minister, was unveiled in 2002. The sculptor was Kenny Mackay, and the statue resides in Buchanan Street.
