Angel Building

 

The angel building on Paisley Road West was built in 1889,the architect's were Bruce and Hay.

It was built as a warehouse for Ogg brothers drapery ,the style of the building is Dutch Renaissance, the sculptor  of the angel was James Alexander Ewing.

The building is now La Fiorentina an Italian restaurant.

Camphill Gate

 Camphill Gate 908-1004 Pollokshaws Road is a B listed tenement built in 1906 by John Nisbet in an arts and craft design.

Unusual tenements built with a flat roof fenced off with a metal balustrade.

Elder Park Library Govan

The library was gifted to to Govan by Mrs Elder whose late husband was a local shipbuilder, she insisted that library should open on Sundays.

The architect was J J Burnet, the style of the building is French Baroque.

The entrance to the library has a curved colonnade, the Govan coat of arms is displayed at the top of the library. The Latin phrase "Nihil sine labore" which translates to nothing without work.

The library was opened in 1903 by Andrew Carnegie.

Val D'oro

Glasgow's oldest chippy has been feeding customers for 149-years.

For many years, it was managed by Luigi Corvi - an experienced tenor known for serenading Celtic fans with Italian opera before matches at Parkhead.

The restaurant is in London Road across from the Tolbooth .
