Elder Park Library Govan







The library was gifted to to Govan by Mrs Elder whose late husband was a local shipbuilder, she insisted that library should open on Sundays.

The architect was J J Burnet, the style of the building is French Baroque.

The entrance to the library has a curved colonnade, the Govan coat of arms is displayed at the top of the library. The Latin phrase "Nihil sine labore" which translates to nothing without work.

The library was opened in 1903 by Andrew Carnegie.
