It is hoped that the building of toilets and a kitchen if built will attract a caffe, meanwhile the unguarded building has been targeted by vandals with over twenty windows smashed.
After a demolition order in the early 1990s was stopped by public petition, businessman Marco Giannasi restored it, opening it as a successful Italian bistro in 1994.
The style of the building is Baroque Franco/Flemish, a very busy building with a lot going on, decorated Ionic Columns and carvings.
It was built for the Paisley firm J and P Coats thread manufactures.
